Obama gives foreign cops new police powers in U.S.
Monday, December 28, 2009
Two men: One a Liberal, the other a Conservative:
MB the Conservative, sent an email to our little group of friends that stated:
“”GOOD TO JUST FIND OUT AFTER WHAT HAPPEN AT FORT HOOD
Well, boys and girls, today we are letting the fox guard the henhouse...
Tomorrow, the wolves will be herding the sheep
Obama Appoints two 'Devout Muslims' to homeland security posts. Doesn't this make you feel safer already?
Obama and Janet Napolitano Appoint Arif Alikhan, a devout Muslim as Assistant Secretary for Policy Development Source announcement: Homeland Security Press Room.

The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is proud to announce that the DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano swore-in Kareem Shora, a devout Muslim, who was born in Damascus, Syria as ADC National Executive Director as a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC).http://www.adc.org/
Excuse me, but has anyone ever heard a new government official being identified as a "devout Catholic, Jew or Protestant."..? Just wondering... Doesn't this make you feel safer already?? "Devout Muslims" being appointed to critical Homeland Security positions... That should make our homeland much safer, huh?
Wasn't it men of the "Devout Muslim Faith" that flew airplanes into some U.S. buildings not too long ago? yeah, I thought so
What IS this president thinking? This announcement was made on Aug 20, 2009. Why are we just now hearing about it???”

6 million Muslims in the U.S. 1 Muslim shooter at Fort Hood
Do the math.
Timothy McVeigh, a Christian veteran of the U.S. Army, killed 168 Americans. Do you hyperventilate about Christian veterans?
And the business about "devout" Muslims came not from DHS or the White House, but from the "Atlas Shrugged" blog. As far as I can tell that blog is devoted to angering or scaring right wingers.
In my opinion we need MORE Muslims in government, including Homeland Security, just like at one time we needed more Irish, Jews, Catholics and Baptists. Do I need to remind anybody that patriotic Americans come in all shapes, sizes, religions and ethnic backgrounds?
MB, responded to RT with:

Subject: Re: Obama Appoints
You are kidding, right? Saying McVeigh is a Christian is like saying Billy Graham is an athiest.
So where were these Muslims back in 1776? Why did it take all these years for Muslims to decide they want to be here now? I don't remember anything in my history classes in grade school or high school about Muslims settling and shaping USA. How did they come to be patriotic Americans? By knocking skyscrapers out of the sky? Making their women folk walk behind the men with their faces covered? By yelling "Death to all Americans"? Yeah, that sounds like a patriotic American.
I don't get your math. Is that like 6 million Jews in Poland and one crazy dictator in Germany?
I guess what I don't understand is why anyone who is so unhappy with the country they came from decides to come to America and immediately tries to make it like the country they came from. Where's the logic? Unless they lied and they are here to take over our "free" country to enslave us.
Seems to me we need more bloggers scaring all-wingers. Terrorist don't seem to be getting everybody's attention. Nothing more than another so-called news item.
Haven’t heard from RT since. Still friends all and BTW, my comments have been excluded. BB

Al Franken Shuts Down Al Lieberman, John McCain Reacts
Senator Al Franken today caused a stir among his colleagues, breaking from the Senate’s long-held standards of collegiality when the gavel-wielding Minnesota Democrat denied Senator Joe Lieberman an additional minute to finish his remarks.
>snip< In such occasions, members request unanimous consent from their colleagues for an additional moment or two. Such requests are summarily granted.
>snip< “I’ve been around here twenty-something years. This is the first time I’ve ever seen a member denied an extra minute or two to finish his remarks,” said John McCain.
“And I must say, I don’t know what’s happening here in this body, but I think it’s wrong. I tell you, I’ve never seen a member denied an extra minute or two as the chair just did.”

Link to: Johnson County’s increasingly multilingual nature is posing challenges.
Spanish speakers are most frequently in need of interpretive help, but a host of other languages are encountered.
Overland Park Municipal Court dealt with individuals speaking 19 languages in 2008, including Mandarin, Samoan, Swahili, Vietnamese, Korean, Punjabi and Cantonese.
>snip< Providing these relatively new services comes at a price. Johnson County District Court pays a full-time language coordinator more than $60,000 annually in salary and benefits. The court pays another $120,000 to $140,000 a year for interpretive services the coordinator cannot personally provide.

Roger 1 (Roger of midtown) ((KC area)) told me a supplier in Prescott Arizona had 380 ammunition at just under 32¢ a round. The brand is “MFS” out of Hungary, a European company I was not familiar with.
I’ve been making things go bang for over 50 years and know when ammunition is filthy, I know how to clear jams, I know why the slide does not stay open after the last round is fired and I know why round after round (20/25) requires you to pull back the hammer and strike the primer a second time.
All the above I told J&G sales by email and received the following reply.
“Sir,
Thank you for your message. We do offer a 30 day return period if your firearms do not like the ammo. You may send it in for a refund of unused boxes, or you can exchange for some other items, however we have no other 380 available to exchange for.
Several of the issues you mention are not ammo related, such as slide not staying back and primer not being ignited on first hit. The second hit sets it off which indicates the primer is fine, but that is was not hit hard enough the first time. This can be caused by underpowered firing pin or hammer springs.
Thank you for your email
J&G Sales”
I asked nothing of J&G Sales and directed them to my web site to view photographs of the guns and unfired rounds. I’m not sending the ammunition back but I’ll not attempt to fire them in a pistol that’s double action only.

Multi-state car dealer plans birth-certificate billboards
© 2009 WorldNetDaily
A top-rated talk radio host in Denver, Colo., has received some good news about his hopes to erect "Where's the Birth Certificate?" billboards in front of hundreds of thousands of drivers a day when a local businessman heard his radio show and agreed to donate the sign space.

However the Liberals of Colorado have their own way of asserting the first amendment. BB
A few minutes ago we learned about an offensive, racist billboard right here in Colorado --attacking President Obama and comparing him to terrorists. The billboard was created by Wolf Automotive, at their location here in Wheat Ridge , Colorado . Check out the photo below, then join the pledge to boycott.

Dennis Moore, dog gone you! I wanted to defeat you in a straight up (↑) election. You have done eruptible harm with your votes and yes I know there were other Liberal Congressmen & women involved but in my opinion you may be an exception.
Let me use as an example a little group of friends I have breakfast with a couple times a month.
I recall when in 1998 Dennis Moore
President Obama said recently (can’t remember to whom) if there were nothing more he could do then no second term run would be in the cards for him (my words). YEA RIGHT!
Dennis Moore in my opinion continued winning because the 3rd district kept casting votes against the Republican not for Moore. I hope Mr. Moore is not ill, he’s been looking poorly lately and again I wanted to defeat him, not watch him jump (↓) too late a sinking ship.

Graves' position on Cuba is scrutinized
But a campaign watchdog group said he began accepting campaign contributions from an anti-Castro, pro-trade embargo political action group and eventually reversed field on Cuba. (From the KC Star)
(snip) The shift began with the Democratic takeover of Congress in 2006 and picked up speed after the inauguration of President Barack Obama, according to the report by Public Campaign, a non-partisan organization that aims to reduce the role of interest groups in U.S. politics.
(snip) The U.S.-Cuba Democracy Public Action Committee (PAC), an anti-Castro group, donated overwhelmingly to Republicans when it was launched in 2004, but in the past year 76 percent of its donations went to Democrats , the report said. http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSTRE5AF0S220091116
Steve Irwin's American widow becomes Australian citizen
The widow of crocodile hunter Steve Irwin became an Australian citizen during Steve Irwin Day activities at Australia Zoo.
With their children Bindi and Robert at her side, American-born Terri was naturalized in front of more than 5,000 people, who she surprised with the ceremony. "I feel like I just got married," she said, according to Australian news reports.
Also announced over the weekend: A Steve Irwin commemorative $1 coin and the naming of a rare, khaki-colored tree snail species after the wildlife warrior.
The snail's name? Crikey steveirwini.
Steve Irwin was 44 when he died on Sept. 4, 2006 after being stung by a stingray while filming at the Great Barrier Reef.
Still miss that guy.

Since I don't know when I'll sleep (it's 4 am now) I'll write what
happened (the abbreviated version.....the long one is already part of
the investigation with more to come). I'll not write about any part of
the investigation that I've learned about since (as a witness I know
more than I should since inevitably my JAG brothers and sisters are
deeply involved in the investigation). Don't assume that most of the
current media accounts are very accurate. They're not. They'll improve
with time. Only those of us who were there really know what went down.
But as they collate our statements they'll get it right. (Click on link above for rest of this story)

Evacuation came within inches of disaster
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan — As Chief Warrant Officer 3 James Woolley eased the giant Chinook down into the mud-walled compound, Special Forces troops on the ground dashed to form a perimeter to protect the helicopter, a prize target for Taliban insurgents.

Link to: Census count for prisoners has Mary Sanchez tap dancing
November 10, 2009
The 2010 U.S. Census will soon be upon us, and by now you may have heard one of the patriotic pitches to comply.
Every breathing soul must be tallied during the massive federal endeavor, the national headcount taken every decade. The census is central to the functioning of our democracy, we’re told.
The data are used to distribute $400 billion in government spending, to compile countless reports on educational needs, to plan for economic development and formulate public policy.
More important, census data have a direct bearing on congressional districts and the Electoral College. The information is crucial to help us uphold the constitutional principle of one person, one vote. (One person one vote of legal American Citizens)
So why, then, is the federal government gearing up to distort this vital set of data by how it accounts for the nation’s booming prison population? Prisoners are counted, not according to their home address but where they are incarcerated. (Because, this is home for now?)
At a glance, this might not seem like a big deal — until the details of our nation’s 2 million inmates are broken down. Rural communities with large prison populations suddenly appear to be bastions of diversity, while those without prisons continue to see their population numbers slide. (Diversity? Mary, you’re up to something?)
On average, inmates serve for 34 months before returning to their original communities. They never shop, dine, attend school or otherwise become members of the towns and cities where they are warehoused while paying their debt to society.
One distortion this way of counting population causes is what some activists call “prison-based gerrymandering.” Because population figures are used to determine legislative districts, voting power is diluted in some areas and falsely ramped up in others.
The NAACP, no doubt recalling how black people were once considered three-fifths of a person for the purpose of representation, was among the first organizations to call for reform. Because 12 percent of black men in their 20s and 30s are in prison at any one time, urban areas lose out on the strength of those uncounted inmates. (Mary, I think I’m beginning to get your drift.)
But it’s actually rural communities, where prisons are often built, that suffer the most from the distortions. (Rural communities; I get it now!) Peter Wagner, a Massachusetts-based advocate for the Prison Policy Initiative, has found 173 counties where more than half of the black population is made up of inmates. Seven state senate districts in New York alone, he argues, would need to be redrawn if inmates were omitted from population figures for the areas where they are doing time.
Local officials in some parts of the country have responsibly attempted to eliminate the distortions. Bravo. The town of Anamosa, Iowa, changed the way it elects city council members after discovering that the population of a state penitentiary created a ward where a candidate got elected on the strength of two write-in votes. (Mary, I’ll bet after reading that last sentence after publication, you wished it could be taken back.) His inmate constituency of about 1,300 prisoners was roughly as populous as the town’s other wards.
With census-takers already completing the process of verifying addresses for the spring headcount, it’s too late for the government to change how it plans to conduct the 2010 Census. Recording the true home address of inmates would be costly (an estimated $250 million), and many prisons don’t have the information readily available.
What the government can do to help rectify the situation is release the prison data earlier than planned, in time for states to take the information and delete those numbers for redistricting purposes.
Criminals forfeit a lot when they get locked up. (Mary, isn't that called punishment?) They lose the right to vote, in all but two states.
They lose daily interaction with loved ones and the chance to engage in meaningful work. What they shouldn’t lose is the sense that their presence counts. (Subtle Mary, very subtle but your voice in these writings are clear; you apparently do not want rural folks working at the prisons because these ‘rural’ folk when not on government assistance are conservative and vote. Subtle Mary but we know who you are!)
