Jesse Jackson's Newest Staff Member
Jesse Jackson has added former Chicago Democrat Congressman Mel Reynolds to Rainbow/PUSH Coalition's payroll. Reynolds was among the 176 criminalsexcused in President Clinton's last-minute forgiveness spree. Reynoldsreceived a commutation of his six-and-a-half-year federal sentence for 15convictions of wire fraud, bank fraud, and lies to the Federal ElectionCommission. He is more notorious, however, for concurrently serving fiveyears for sleeping with an underage campaign volunteer.
This is a first in American politics: An ex-congressman who had sex with asubordinate...won clemency from a president who had sex with asubordinate...then was hired by a clergyman who had sex with a subordinate. His new job?

Mel Reynolds
A teenager, prison and a commuted sentence
U.S. Rep. Mel Reynolds (D-Ill.) (center) enters court in Chicago with his wife, Marisol, and a Cook County sheriff's deputy.
In 1995, the representative from the 2nd District went to prison after being convicted of sexual misconduct with a 16-year-old campaign worker, solicitation of child pornography and obstruction of justice.
In 2001, President Bill Clinton commuted Reynolds' sentence.
In 2005, Chicago police ordered Reynolds to leave his home on Chicago's South Side because of its nearness to a school.
They cited a law that prohibits sex offenders from living within 500 feet of a dense concentration of children.
