Useless Signs

Shooting in community center might lead to metal detectors
Kansas City parks officials are reviewing security practices in the wake of a shooting incident during a basketball game Friday at the Tony Aguirre Community Center.
But gunfire broke out Friday apparently after an argument that did not involve the players. One witness told police he heard an automatic weapon “being shot all over.”
The incident was reported at 7:34 p.m. during a basketball game for two 18-and-under boys teams in league play. The gym had been rented by the Guadalupe Center, which has used the Aguirre Center without incident for more than five years, according to the department. The teams are not affiliated with any school district, park officials said.
